A stable and continuous business system is an important criterion to evaluate whether an institution can provide continuous and high-quality service. As most institutions have digitalized their information, protecting the system from either natural disasters or manual factors like misoperation or hacking is of great significance.
Status quo
Currently, its financing software is installed and run in Windows and the SQLserver is used as a background database for the software.
Problems and challenges
It currently stores data on the disk which will inevitably cause data loss if one or multiple disks are damaged.
Although HA is built between every two servers, a single point of failure of the shared storage(disk array) may jeopardize the whole system. Also, with the aging and depreciation of disk arrays, its stability decreases while possibility of logical and physical damages increases.
Because the Windows OSs are not stored on the disk array and a SPOF will influence the whole system, once a damage occurs to the local drive, the server could be out of service and it will take lots of time to install and reconfigure the OS.
Topology
Solutions
It will deploy InfoKists at local Tax Bureau to back up important data and deploy an InfoKist at the municipal bureau for remote backup. It also installs DBackup on servers and backs up SQLserver database, Windows OS and important files to disks. Once damage happens to above areas, InfoKist can quickly recover data with manual interference.
It can also perform offsite backup and real-time backup to guarantee zero data loss. In case of server downtime, the backup server can instantly take over business to ensure continuous operation.
Characteristics
Firstly, it supports various OSs, virtualization platforms and databases; it supports local BMR and universal recovery; it also supports hybrid IT structure which not only meets current demands but also fits into future development.
Secondly, its efficient data backup and recovery methods can maximally ensure data security. It has advanced deduplication and compression technology to ensure efficiency; it encrypts local data and transmission process via HTTPS or FTP+SSL to ensure security; it can recover the database to a certain checkpoint and supports incremental backup and periodical automatic backup.
Thirdly, it can perform real-time synchronization to ensure business continuity and HA.
Fourthly, it provides a professional operation & maintenance platform to improve efficiency and manageability. The web interface has functions like automatic alerting, monitoring and reporting and allows admins to manage backup anywhere. It allows creating multiple users with various accesses to prevent unauthorized access.
InfoKist is a completely domestic disaster recovery product that has been granted 3C certification; it can provide comprehensive protection for Wuhan Tax System.
